The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Griffith University have established the "China Scholarship Council - Griffith University Joint Funding Program". CSC and Griffith collaborate on providing scholarship opportunities and placements to selected Chinese graduate students who wish to complete a PhD at Griffith. CSC and Griffith will jointly sponsor selected Chinese students each year to undertake Griffith's PhD program.

Griffith will provide tuition fee scholarships to cover the full cost of tuition for up to 48 months and Overseas Students Health Cover for 42 months, as well as other economic support, such as providing teaching assistant or research assistant positions. CSC will provide a living allowance by the Chinese Government for up to 48 months, a return international airfare, and visa application fees.

Applicants must meet candidate eligibility requirements as prescribed by CSC and Griffith in accordance with their rules and policies. The favoured areas of study for this program are drug discovery, environmental studies, nanoscience, and water science; however, this program is extended to all research areas. Candidates must fulfil all relevant academic entry requirements, including the prescribed level of English language proficiency for PhD admission and scholarships at Griffith. Candidates are required to hold a bachelor degree with first-class honours or second-class honours (Division A), or a masters degree incorporating a significant research component, from a recognised institution; or equivalent. Candidates must meet the selection criteria set out by CSC .

Candidates who have obtained an offer letter from Griffith must submit an online application and supporting documents to CSC for funding. The deadline for application will be specified on the CSC website.

Accepting an offer

Candidates who are successful in obtaining scholarship funding from CSC will forward confirmation to Griffith by the date specified in the Griffith offer letter. Candidates will be required to commence in one of the appointed  commencement intake dates below.

PhD and research degree commencement intake dates:

  • Intake 3, July
  • Intake 4, October
