What to prepare
Acting
You will present two prepared monologues. One must be be from the set list provided, the other being your own choice.
Singing
You will present the songs prepared for your Phase 1 audition and may be asked to perform one or both selections.
Aural Skills
You will undertake basic aural investigations such as pitch awareness, harmony awareness and unaccompanied scale. A range test may also be requested in this one-on-one session.
Dancing
Following basic technical exercises, a dance combination will be taught, and you will be given time to practice before presenting to the panel in groups of three or four.
Voice
Your spoken voice will be considered during the performance of your monologues.

What to wear and bring
You should wear comfortable clothing suitable for dance/movement, and trainers or jazz shoes. You do not need to change into formal clothing for your singing audition.
Bring water, food and snacks, something clean / dry to put on following the dance audition, as well as a towel for any floor work. It is recommended you also pack a light jacket or jumper, as the studios can get cold.
You MUST bring marked-up copies of your sheet music for the pianist.
A copy of your acting pieces (for the panel).
Finding QPAC Stage Door
The Queensland Performing Arts Centre is well situated on the Brisbane River in the heart of South Bank. Stage Door is located halfway along the pedestrian tunnel.

On audition day
Registration: You must be waiting at QPAC stage door at 8:00am (sessions 1, 3 and 4) or 1:30pm (session 2) where you will be met by a member of the administration team and escorted through security to the studio. As the complex is large, late arrivals may miss the commencement of their audition session, so it is essential you are not late.
The live audition will be divided as follows:
Sessions 1, 2 and 4 (8:00am to 1:45pm) Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 September
| Group warm-up | You will undertake a short warm-up session which may include group play and improvisation. |
| Meeting/Welcome | You will meet the team and be given information about the audition process before splitting into three smaller groups. These groups will rotate throughout the session. |
| Dancing | In a small group, you will undertake a physical warm-up and basic technical exercises, after which you will be taught a short routine which you will present to the panel. |
| Singing | In a small group you will present your prepared songs to the panel one at a time, and undertake a short aural test. |
| Acting | In a small group, you will present your two prepared monologues to the panel one at a time. |
| Q & A session | The groups will then come together for a Q&A where you will be given the opportunity to ask about the Program and audition process with a senior member of the academic team, as well as current Bachelor of Musical Theatre students. |
Session 2 (1:30pm to 7:15pm) Monday 28 September only

| Singing | You will present your prepared songs to the panel one at a time, and undertake a short aural test. |
| Q & A session | The audition will finish with a Q&A where you will be given the opportunity to ask about the Program and audition process with a senior member of the academic team. |
Please note: Auditionees should expect to receive direction and participate in a workshop-style exploration of their material.
