Work in a supportive environment to build your creative portfolio

Immerse yourself in the creative world of Queensland College of Art and Design and explore design or visual arts with hands-on experience days. These one-day workshops are designed to help you develop the skills, confidence and a creative piece for your portfolio while experiencing the facilities at QCAD. Learn directly from our experienced teaching staff and gain insight into what it takes to succeed in a creative degree.

In the visual arts experience day you will have the opportunity to explore painting, photography or sculpture with two engaging sessions offered across the day.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are invited to connect with First Nations staff through our Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art workshop, creating a space to learn, share and grow.

Step into a day of creativity where you will:

  • Complete at least one creative piece that could be used in your portfolio
  • Work alongside and connect with QCAD’s expert faculty in Design, Visual Arts and Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art (CAIA).
  • Discover whether QCAD is the right fit for your creative journey

Design Experience Days will be held at both our Brisbane City and Gold Coast campuses in 2026, while Visual Arts and Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art experiences will take place exclusively at our Brisbane City campus. These sessions are tailored for students in year 10 and above, as well as anyone considering a return to study after time away from the classroom.

Spots are limited. Register now and take the first step toward your creative future.

Design experience days are offered at both the Brisbane City and Gold Coast campuses in 2026.

The Visual Arts and Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art experience day is only offered at the Brisbane City campus.
