Work in a supportive environment to build your creative portfolio
Immerse yourself in the creative world of Queensland College of Art and Design and explore design or visual arts with hands-on experience days. These one-day workshops are designed to help you develop the skills, confidence and a creative piece for your portfolio while experiencing the facilities at QCAD. Learn directly from our experienced teaching staff and gain insight into what it takes to succeed in a creative degree.
In the visual arts experience day you will have the opportunity to explore painting, photography or sculpture with two engaging sessions offered across the day.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are invited to connect with First Nations staff through our Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art workshop, creating a space to learn, share and grow.
Step into a day of creativity where you will:
- Complete at least one creative piece that could be used in your portfolio
- Work alongside and connect with QCAD’s expert faculty in Design, Visual Arts and Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art (CAIA).
- Discover whether QCAD is the right fit for your creative journey

Study areas
Design

During the workshop you will learn about the design process, including defining the problem, working on a response, and presenting a solution.
Visual Arts
Work with QCAD Visual Arts staff to boost your creative confidence, better understand how to make a visual arts portfolio, and create artwork for potential use in your QCAD application. This is an ideal opportunity to experience QCAD Visual Arts for yourself and to see how it feels to work in our studios.
Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art (CAIA)
Work with QCAD First Nations Art & Design staff to explore incorporating and highlighting your cultural identity within your visual arts portfolio. Create an artwork (using a range of visual arts mediums) in the studio while getting to know the CAIA team and learning more about our degree program.
