Join the Staff Giving Program
The Staff Giving Program at Griffith University allows our bright and excellent students to achieve their goals despite facing financial and sometimes personal challenges. Even though our staff giving funds are not huge, collectively the impact is evident as we hear from the students themselves. I have been very humbled and fortunate to be friends with at least two of my mentees who were supported by Staff giving program.
Academically excellent and with a very positive outlook - ever smiling students brought tears to my eyes when I heard about the circumstances they have been dealing with while supporting their families living in a remote area. They were at the verge of dropping out of university when they received the support from this program. Over the next 3 years I saw them excelling and contributing to the society in their own way while raising their younger siblings.
Staff Giving is not only a support for our deserving students but by default a great contribution to society. I am passionate about it and encourage my other colleagues to reach out and help to whatever extent they can. At a personal level it provided me with great satisfaction and makes me proud of seeing the achievements and thankfulness of the graduates. This program also provides pre-tax benefits to the staff and the university matching the staff contribution with no staff contribution lost to administrative cost makes this program worthwhile compared to some other charities.
I believe no one should be disadvantaged due to lack of funding. Education is not only a gateway to a career but to a happy society and takes away the anxiety not only from the students but provides positivity to their whole family. By giving today we are nurturing future generations to be considerate and ready to make a positive social impact.
