Include two referee reports from two different sources, such as:

• an academic referee—a person qualified to comment on your academic studies
• a character referee—a person competent to supply a character reference (for example, a current or past employer, or someone with whom you have undertaken community service or volunteer activities).

Statements

• Personal statement: In 500 words or less, detail your career goals, community involvement and how this scholarship would benefit you.

Application assessment

Selection is based primarily on academic merit.

Leadership and community engagement activities, along with referee reports may be used to separate applicants with the same academic rank. The University makes its own judgement about what constitutes the most meritorious cases.

Information provided by individuals in their Griffith online scholarship application is used to conduct a comprehensive EDA in accordance with the following categories:

1. Financial hardship
2. Home environment and responsibilities
3. English language difficulty
4. Personal illness and disability
5. Educational disruption
6. Remoteness or relocation within Australia.

Value

The scholarship is payable in instalments based on enrolled credit points for that trimester at a rate of $625 per 10 CP, provided conditions are met, up to the maximum value which is dependent on length of the undergraduate degree remaining.

The maximum value is calculated at a rate of $5,000 per 80 CP remaining in the degree for which the scholarship has been awarded.

Example: students who have completed 80 CP of a 240 CP degree would have a maximum value scholarship of $10,000.

Payment

Instalments are based on enrolled credit points for the trimester, up to the maximum value. Payments are made directly to the recipients' nominated bank account up to three weeks after the census date of each trimester, subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.

Please note: Payments made to those studying part-time may be taxable.

Student Academy of Excellence

The Student Academy of Excellence provides experiences and opportunities that help high-achieving undergraduate students reach their full potential. SAE provides members with:

• opportunities to develop their personal, study, and employability skills
• take part in student-led projects
• access to academic and research mentors
• opportunities to study and volunteer overseas
• chances to network with a multi-disciplinary group of like-minded, exceptional students and alumni.

To remain eligible for this scholarship, applicants will be required to:

• remain enrolled at Griffith University in the undergraduate degree for which the scholarship was awarded
• maintain a GPA 6 or above – Academic progress must be maintained each trimester
• not be in receipt of another Griffith University funded scholarship; includes Brighter Futures Scholarship.

The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.

A scholarship recipient may take leave of absence in accordance with university policy. Scholarship benefits are suspended for the period of leave of absence or deferment. A scholarship recipient who is not enrolled and is not on an approved leave of absence will lose their scholarship.

The following conditions apply:

• Recipient may be invited to feature in marketing materials to promote the scholarship.
• Recipients must accept the scholarship offer, made via email, by the date indicated on the offer, they may be required to provide additional documentation to support their application.
• Recipients who are on approved cross-institutional study continue to remain eligible for scholarship benefits and are required to provide documentation to prove cross-institutional study and academic load.
• Recipients may change their degree however the maximum value of the scholarship will be based on the credit points remaining from the degree at time of award.

Applications must be completed and submitted by the closing date. Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.

Scholarships are applied to ensure an equitable spread of scholarships across the academic groups. Griffith University reserves the right not to offer all the scholarships available, and to set a maximum limit on scholarships available for any one program or in any one academic group. The number of scholarships available in each category will be determined each year by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).

The University will make its own judgement about what constitutes the most meritorious applications.
