Not all students have the financial security to succeed, grow and thrive during their studies; to address this, the OakView Financial Planning Scholarship provides support for proactive third-year financial planning students who may be facing personal or financial hardships.

Scholarship details

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • be full-time enrolled in an undergraduate business degree hosted by the Griffith Business School
  • have two trimesters of full-time study remaining
  • be completing a Financial Planning major
  • have a minimum GPA of 4.5 or above.

Statements

  • Personal statement: In 500 words or less, cover your career goals, community involvement and how this scholarship would benefit you.

Application assessment

Information provided by individuals in their Griffith online scholarship application is assessed and ranked in accordance with the following Educational Disadvantage Assessment categories:

  1. Financial Hardship
  2. Home Environment and Responsibilities
  3. English Language Difficulty
  4. Personal Illness and Disability
  5. Educational Disruption
  6. Relocation within Australia

Value

Maximum value is $5,000. Instalments of $2,500 are payable in trimester 1 and 2, provided conditions are met.

Separate from this scholarship, the successful recipient will also have the opportunity to apply for the OakView Financial Pty Ltd work experience or vacation placement program.

Payment

Payments are made up to six weeks after the census date, subject to maintaining ongoing terms and conditions.

To remain eligible for the scholarship, you will be required to:

  • remain full-time enrolled at Griffith University in the approved Griffith Business School undergraduate program with a Financial Planning major
  • maintain a GPA of 4.5 or above.

Requests for leave of absence may be considered in line with Griffith University procedure.

The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated. The recipient must show cause to the Scholarships Office why the scholarship should not be cancelled.

Recipients may be invited to meet with the donor and feature in marketing materials to promote the Scholarship.

Applications must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

Applicants may be shortlisted and be required to provide additional information.

Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
