Awarded to students commencing in 2024, auditioning at the Queensland Conservatorium for entry into a Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University programme in an area of instrumental need. Determination of instrumental need is at the discretion of the Director of the Conservatorium.

Students are automatically eligible as part of their audition application as assessment is made during the entry audition process. The student ranked the highest at the audition process in an area of instrumental need (as determined by the Director of the Conservatorium) will be offered the bursary.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • auditioning at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University for entry into any QCGU programme (undergraduate or postgraduate) in an area of vocal or instrumental need (as determined by the Director)
  • commencing study in 2024
  • enrolled to study full time
  • an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder or New Zealand Citizen.

Assessment is made during the entry audition process. The student ranked highest at the audition process in the pre-determined area of need may be offered the bursary.

The offer is conditional on the recipient being enrolled at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

Payments are made up to six weeks after census date and are subject to the following conditions. The recipient must:

  • be enrolled in a QCGU programme
  • be enrolled full time
  • be playing (as a major) the instrument for which the bursary has been offered
  • make satisfactory progress in Trimester 1 (for Trimester 2 payment).

The above conditions are verified each trimester at Census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payment may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.

The Nora Baird Memorial Fund Audition Bursary is open to students commencing 2024 auditioning at the Queensland Conservatorium for entry into a Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University programme in an area of instrumental need, at the Director's discretion.

The bursary is valued at $10,000 (amount may vary year to year). The bursary is paid in two instalments, the first payment at Trimester 1 census date, and the second at Trimester 2 census date contingent on satisfactory progress. Payments are for full-time enrolment only.
