The Spinal Injury Project team used an innovative translational research strategy to invent a potentially transformative nerve bridge product that is hoped to revolutionise cell transplantation in the nervous system and be used to repair spinal cord injury. After eight and a half years of preclinical research, the therapy progressed to a Phase I clinical trial in 2025. The community co-designed therapy uses transplantation of olfactory glial cells within three-dimensional nerve bridges to repair the spinal cord injury site. When combined with long-term rehabilitation, it is anticipated that the therapy will commence the restoration of motor, sensory and autonomic function.

Blurred Minds, a social enterprise within Griffith University, has dedicated over 14 years to innovating youth education on vaping, alcohol, and drug prevention. The program is underpinned by the Co-create, Build, and Engage (CBE) framework - a research-derived methodology developed through academic enquiry and validated across multiple contexts. The Blurred Minds evidence-informed resources currently engage thousands of weekly users and provide access to hundreds of thousands of students nationwide. It has demonstrated measurable positive change, with students showing increased ability to refuse alcohol, vapes, and cannabis, alongside a deeper understanding of the associated risks.

Professor Chamindie Punyadeera is a globally recognised innovator in salivary diagnostics and . Her work has reshaped early cancer diagnostics, culminating in CancerDetect™—the world’s first saliva-based test for head and neck cancer, and the first clinical proof that saliva can be used to detect asymptomatic, early-stage Human papillomavirus-driven cancers.

The Transformative Tourism in the Pacific Team from Griffith Institute for Tourism impressed the judging panel with their comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to this project, including working with key partners in a region of institutional focus - the Pacific - while engaging in developing capacity building micro credentials and attracting commercial research income. This approach aligns very strongly with the University's focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the work of the team has, and will continue to, lead to significant reputational benefit for the University

The Translanguaging Approach project promotes inclusivity and anatomy learning in a large diverse first-year cohort of undergraduate Health students and is a wonderful example of a curriculum innovation that is benefitting students, both international and domestic from non-English backgrounds, at scale and holds exciting promise for the future. Dr Jennifer Kosiol is a Senior Lecturer in Health Services Management with over five years of recent teaching experience in postgraduate health leadership education. Dr Barbara Hadley, lecturer in Structural Biochemistry and Metabolism, recognised a global problem in traditional biochemistry education: a reliance on rote learning. Students were disengaged, underprepared & overwhelmed by the subject's complexity. To address this, & in alignment with Griffith's strategic priorities, she designed/embedded over 118 interactive, gamified Articulate modules since 2024. These modules move beyond content delivery as they demand critical thinking, applied reasoning, and decision-making through real-life case studies and scaffolded, adaptive learning. Each module includes unique, pedagogically sound interactions grounded in Constructivist, Experiential Learning, Self-Determination Theory and Universal Design for Learning principles.

In response to the emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), the team developed Using Generative AI Ethically and Responsibly, an innovative, student-facing module. The H5P resource provides active, authentic learning experiences that improve student understanding of ethical, responsible, and effective use of Gen AI. Since its release in late 2023, the module has been adopted in 174 courses across all four academic groups at Griffith University, with use extending nationally and internationally.

The design of 2101GBS Path to Professional Success focused on creating genuine employability impact by empowering students to embrace opportunities toward the mid-to-final stages of their business program. Literature attests to the importance of scaffolding employability learning and in iteratively building this learning as students refine their career identity. This second-year core course is uniquely positioned to build students capabilities, so they are equipped to act on their career plans, make intentional choices about their major selection and make the most of their final year courses and WIL experiences.

The Physiotherapy Deadly Curriculum Working Group was established in 2022 with the objective of reviewing and transforming the Bachelor of Physiotherapy's curriculum to integrate First Nations Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing. The Spinal Injury Project team used an innovative translational research strategy to invent a potentially transformative nerve bridge product that is hoped to revolutionise cell transplantation in the nervous system and be used to repair spinal cord injury. After eight and a half years of preclinical research, the therapy progressed to a Phase I clinical trial in 2025. The community co-designed therapy uses transplantation of olfactory glial cells within three-dimensional nerve bridges to repair the spinal cord injury site. When combined with long-term rehabilitation, it is anticipated that the therapy will commence the restoration of motor, sensory and autonomic function.

Blurred Minds, a social enterprise within Griffith University, has dedicated over 14 years to innovating youth education on vaping, alcohol, and drug prevention. The program is underpinned by the Co-create, Build, and Engage (CBE) framework - a research-derived methodology developed through academic enquiry and validated across multiple contexts. The Blurred Minds evidence-informed resources currently engage thousands of weekly users and provide access to hundreds of thousands of students nationwide. Her work has reshaped early cancer diagnostics, culminating in CancerDetect™—the world’s first saliva-based test for head and neck cancer, and the first clinical proof that saliva can be used to detect asymptomatic, early-stage Human papillomavirus-driven cancers.

The Transformative Tourism in the Pacific Team from Griffith Institute for Tourism impressed the judging panel with their comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to this project, including working with key partners in a region of institutional focus - the Pacific - while engaging in developing capacity building micro credentials and attracting commercial research income. Dr Barbara Hadley, lecturer in Structural Biochemistry and Metabolism, recognised a global problem in traditional biochemistry education: a reliance on rote learning. Students were disengaged, underprepared & overwhelmed by the subject's complexity. To address this, & in alignment with Griffith's strategic priorities, she designed/embedded over 118 interactive, gamified Articulate modules since 2024. These modules move beyond content delivery as they demand critical thinking, applied reasoning, and decision-making through real-life case studies and scaffolded, adaptive learning. Each module includes unique, pedagogically sound interactions grounded in Constructivist, Experiential Learning, Self-Determination Theory and Universal Design for Learning principles.

In response to the emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), the team developed Using Generative AI Ethically and Responsibly, an innovative, student-facing module. The H5P resource provides active, authentic learning experiences that improve student understanding of ethical, responsible, and effective use of Gen AI. Since its release in late 2023, the module has been adopted in 174 courses across all four academic groups at Griffith University, with use extending nationally and internationally.

The design of 2101GBS Path to Professional Success focused on creating genuine employability impact by empowering students to embrace opportunities toward the mid-to-final stages of their business program. Literature attests to the importance of scaffolding employability learning and in iteratively building this learning as students refine their career identity. This second-year core course is uniquely positioned to build students capabilities, so they are equipped to act on their career plans, make intentional choices about their major selection and make the most of their final year courses and WIL experiences.

The Physiotherapy Deadly Curriculum Working Group was established in 2022 with the objective of reviewing and transforming the Bachelor of Physiotherapy's curriculum to integrate First Nations Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing. The group is comprised of diverse members including staff from different campuses, who teach across different year levels, including First Nations academics. The group developed a bespoke cultural safety framework that has enriched student learning, and improved engagement and cultural responsiveness of students and staff. The HDR Pathways to Industry Program team received this award for their strategic development of an engaged, industry-facing research culture that empowers doctoral candidates to thrive during and beyond their candidature. Developed through a student-led HDR Community of Practice, initiatives implemented through the program include an annual Doctoral Symposium, a series of industry focused engagement events and embedding doctoral students within industry including placements with local councils. The Spinal Injury Project team used an innovative translational research strategy to invent a potentially transformative nerve bridge product that is hoped to revolutionise cell transplantation in the nervous system and be used to repair spinal cord injury. After eight and a half years of preclinical research, the therapy progressed to a Phase I clinical trial in 2025. The community co-designed therapy uses transplantation of olfactory glial cells within three-dimensional nerve bridges to repair the spinal cord injury site. When combined with long-term rehabilitation, it is anticipated that the therapy will commence the restoration of motor, sensory and autonomic function.

Blurred Minds, a social enterprise within Griffith University, has dedicated over 14 years to innovating youth education on vaping, alcohol, and drug prevention. The program is underpinned by the Co-create, Build, and Engage (CBE) framework - a research-derived methodology developed through academic enquiry and validated across multiple contexts. The Blurred Minds evidence-informed resources currently engage thousands of weekly users and provide access to hundreds of thousands of students nationwide. It has demonstrated measurable positive change, with students showing increased ability to refuse alcohol, vapes, and cannabis, alongside a deeper understanding of the associated risks.

Professor Susan Trevaskes is a leading researcher in Chinese criminal justice, governance and law. Her research interrogates the world’s largest justice system including law, punishment and social governance and has shaped how scholars, policymakers and practitioners understand Chinese justice.

Professor Chamindie Punyadeera is a globally recognised innovator in salivary diagnostics and . Her work has reshaped early cancer diagnostics, culminating in CancerDetect™—the world’s first saliva-based test for head and neck cancer, and the first clinical proof that saliva can be used to detect asymptomatic, early-stage Human papillomavirus-driven cancers.

The Transformative Tourism in the Pacific Team from Griffith Institute for Tourism impressed the judging panel with their comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to this project, including working with key partners in a region of institutional focus - the Pacific - while engaging in developing capacity building micro credentials and attracting commercial research income. This approach aligns very strongly with the University's focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the work of the team has, and will continue to, lead to significant reputational benefit for the University

The Translanguaging Approach project promotes inclusivity and anatomy learning in a large diverse first-year cohort of undergraduate Health students and is a wonderful example of a curriculum innovation that is benefitting students, both international and domestic from non-English backgrounds, at scale and holds exciting promise for the future. This project is highly commended, and we congratulate the team for their innovation and execution.

The development, delivery and management of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program in education has had significant impact for the University's collaboration with diverse international partners and for the student experience and this activity was deemed worthy of recognising Christa’s COIL project as highly commended to her dedication and impact in this space.

The sustained delivery and impact of the Asia-Pacific Public Health Field Tours initiative, with 10 tours over the past 11 year, have made Dr Sofija and Professor Harris worthy winners of this award. The judging panel were impressed with the number of and diversity of participants, the range of Health programs from which they have been drawn, attraction of significant New Colombo Plan funding to support student participation, the student feedback regarding their experiences, and the publication of research regarding the impact.

Dr Jennifer Kosiol is a Senior Lecturer in Health Services Management with over five years of recent teaching experience in postgraduate health leadership education. Her teaching is situated within the discipline of Health Services Management, where she convenes and delivers courses that prepare mid- to senior-level professionals for system leadership, innovation, and organisational improvement. Since Jan 2020, Dr Kosiol has led the design, redevelopment, and delivery of multiple postgraduate courses and programs, including the Master of Health Services Management and the co-designed Graduate Certificate in Leading Health Services Innovation.

Dr Barbara Hadley, lecturer in Structural Biochemistry and Metabolism, recognised a global problem in traditional biochemistry education: a reliance on rote learning. Students were disengaged, underprepared & overwhelmed by the subject's complexity. To address this, & in alignment with Griffith's strategic priorities, she designed/embedded over 118 interactive, gamified Articulate modules since 2024. These modules move beyond content delivery as they demand critical thinking, applied reasoning, and decision-making through real-life case studies and scaffolded, adaptive learning. Each module includes unique, pedagogically sound interactions grounded in Constructivist, Experiential Learning, Self-Determination Theory and Universal Design for Learning principles.

In response to the emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), the team developed Using Generative AI Ethically and Responsibly, an innovative, student-facing module. The H5P resource provides active, authentic learning experiences that improve student understanding of ethical, responsible, and effective use of Gen AI. Since its release in late 2023, the module has been adopted in 174 courses across all four academic groups at Griffith University, with use extending nationally and internationally.

The design of 2101GBS Path to Professional Success focused on creating genuine employability impact by empowering students to embrace opportunities toward the mid-to-final stages of their business program. Literature attests to the importance of scaffolding employability learning and in iteratively building this learning as students refine their career identity. This second-year core course is uniquely positioned to build students capabilities, so they are equipped to act on their career plans, make intentional choices about their major selection and make the most of their final year courses and WIL experiences.

The Physiotherapy Deadly Curriculum Working Group was established in 2022 with the objective of reviewing and transforming the Bachelor of Physiotherapy's curriculum to integrate First Nations Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing. The group is comprised of diverse members including staff from different campuses, who teach across different year levels, including First Nations academics. The group developed a bespoke cultural safety framework that has enriched student learning, and improved engagement and cultural responsiveness of students and staff. A key focus has been on creating a sustainable approach through a purposefully designed curriculum.
