Producing evidence-based insights for real-world impact.

Our Department uses the latest econometric techniques to solve real-world challenges in accounting, finance, economics and business law.

Building on Griffith University's Research and Innovation Plan for 2025-2030, our work connects rigorous quantitative analysis with policy relevance, from household wellbeing and financial literacy, to corporate governance, sustainability, and energy markets. Our researchers collaborate across disciplines to produce evidence-based insights that inform business practice, improve regulation, and contribute to fairer, more resilient economies.

Upcoming Agriculture, Environment & Resource Policy Network Workshop

Tuesday July 14, 2026, Griffith will be hosting and bringing together researchers and experts to discuss two main objectives.

Meet our researchers

Professor Alberto Posso, Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics, sits down with a range of our researchers to discuss their areas of expertise.

In this interview, Associate Professor Md Sayed Iftekha, an expert in environmental economics, breaks down how economic tools can be used to tackle some of our most pressing environmental challenges. He explores how changing human behaviour, creating the right incentives, and designing smarter investment mechanisms can drive real environmental outcomes, and shares insights from his work across the globe, including in developing countries.

Dr Ayesha Scott is a researcher fascinated by the intersection of human behaviour and household finance. Her work explores how individuals relate to their personal finances and the people around them — examining financial violence, wealth management, and the ways money can be weaponised as a tool of control.
