Extending your international student visa

To extend your student visa you need to apply for a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

When to apply

We issue new CoEs after results (including deferred and supplementary assessment) of the current trimester are released.

If you are overseas
Apply at least three months before your student visa expiry date.
If you are in Australia
Apply at least one month before your student visa expiry date.

Before applying for a new CoE ensure you understand the conditions for extending your student visa.

Sponsored students: you will need to obtain a new Financial Guarantee from your sponsor before we can issue a CoE.

Request a CoE

We will email your Griffith student email account to let you know if you were successful. Approved CoEs are sent within 10 business days.

How to apply for a student visa

Once you receive your Confirmation of Enrolment you will need to extend your Overseas Student Health Cover. Contact your health provider to extend your cover for the duration of your new visa application.

Apply for your visa through the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs. When you apply you will need to attach documentation including your new CoE and extended OSHC.
