Highlights

Engaging parents and communities in children’s learning and wellbeing

Professor Beryl Exley, Dr Linda Willis and Narelle Duffurn were engaged as part of the Our Schools – Our Future program to investigate parent engagement and the impacts it can have on student wellbeing and achievement levels. An initiative of Independent Schools Queensland, this program is designed to promote informed public policy debate about schooling. Through commissioned and internal research, Our Schools – Our Future explores trends and issues in key areas that determine the nature and performance of our school education systems. While the initiative has a particular focus on the contribution of independent schools to our education provision and outcomes, it examines a range of issues and trends relevant to the development and implementation of effective public policy for schooling.

Learning Frameworks for Outside School Hours Care

Associate Professor Jennifer Cartmel was invited to update the Learning Frameworks for Outside School Hours Care alongside colleagues from Macquarie University, Edith Cowan University and QUT . As part of the update, Jenny and her team created this video inviting young people to provide their opinion on what should be taught at outside school hours care.
