Why is this study being conducted?

This research study is testing a potential new treatment for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

COPD is a long‑term lung condition that gradually gets worse over time. People with COPD often experience flare‑ups which can make breathing more difficult and can affect day‑to‑day quality of life. Even when people are treated with standard inhaled medicines, including combinations of two or three inhalers, many still continue to experience these flare‑ups.

The purpose of this study is to find out whether the study drug is safe and how well it works when given in addition to standard treatments for people with COPD.

Who is eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 40 to 80 years of age
  • Have had a COPD diagnosis for more than 12 months

Applicants who express interest in participating in this study will be reviewed and contacted as other requirement criteria must also be met.

What happens during the study? 

Trial duration will be up to 11 months and you will have about 16 trial visits.

Trial site visits will occur at the Griffith University Clinical Trial Unit on the Gold Coast.

You will be assigned randomly by chance (like the flip of a coin) to receive the study drug or placebo.

Volunteer to participate

Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and participants can decide to withdraw at any time.

Eligible participants will be reimbursed for their travel associated with each study visit.
