PhD Candidate

Michael McGarry is a serving police officer with the QPS with over 24 years experience across a range of policing areas such as Intelligence, Domestic and Family Violence, Plain Clothes Investigations, Disaster Management and Officer in Charge of Stations. He has served across Queensland from Inala to Cape York. He holds the rank of Inspector and is based in Brisbane managing two state wide capabilities that co-ordinates workplace culture, wellbeing, safety and conduct services for QPS, State Emergency Service and Marine Rescue Queensland.

Michael has an undergraduate degree in psychology and postgraduate qualifications in public policy, police leadership and MBA (Leadership).

Michael has published in the research areas of psychological predictors of juvenile delinquency, problem solving models and workplace culture. His current PhD research spans psychology and criminology areas centering on the wellbeing of police leaders.
