PhD Candidate
Isaac Zavelsky is a PhD Candidate in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University. He began his academic journey at Griffith University in 2018, after previously working in Information Technology and Project Management roles. In 2021, Isaac completed his undergraduate studies in Criminology and Criminal Justice with Honours.
Isaac's doctoral research focuses on how disclosure of victimisation among young persons experiencing homelessness is recorded, and how this population is represented in official crime statistics. His project is part of a broader aim to understand the role of the community in solving social problems, including long term solutions to youth delinquency and preventing victimisation of vulnerable persons.
Isaac has also served in teaching capacities within the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, delivering introductory criminology courses. Outside of work, he volunteers with the Australian Electoral Commission during federal elections.
