Primary Objective
The organisation’s primary objective is to advocate for and undertake preparatory work to assist in the establishment of a national Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) in Australia. Such commission would act as an independent public body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice and refers appropriate cases back to the courts. Whilst commissions of this kind already operate in the UK, Canada & New Zealand - Australia has no equivalent.
Broader Goals
Broader goals include:
- Promoting research, education, advocay, and law reform relating to miscarriages of justice.
