Queensland Conservatorium graduate Dami Im has soared to international fame and is now one of Australia’s most iconic pop idols.

Named the 2016 Arts, Education and Law Young Alumnus of the Year, Dami is also an award-winning pianist who won the popular reality television show The X Factor Australia in 2013 and is known worldwide for finishing second place in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Queensland Conservatorium Director, Professor Scott Harrison says the conservatorium is proud to be associated with Dami’s vocal training, through the work of master teacher Dr Irene Bartlett.

“Dami is one of many Queensland Conservatorium graduates who are making their mark in the world of music in a wide range of genres,’’ he says.

Dami’s self-titled debut album reached number 1 on the ARIA charts, as did her lead single, Alive.

“I feel like I’m so lucky and blessed to have had such a caring and also competent teacher like Irene," says Dami.

“I couldn’t have had anyone better to equip me with the skills to maximise my potential as a singer.”
