ANZ Cyber Crime Challenge

The ANZ Cyber Crime Challenge is a competitive event where participants collaborate to solve challenges related to cyber crime, cyber security, and digital forensics. It encourages innovation, skill development, and teamwork to create solutions that help detect, prevent, or respond to cyber threats.

The ANZ Cyber Crime Challenge is open to all current students from Griffith University, Griffith College and the University of Queensland, however the content is generally suited to students with a background or interest in IT, criminology and/or business.

Participants will be working in teams during the Challenge, so it's not essential for every team member to have cyber security experience. However, we do recommend that each team includes at least one member with some background in this area. For individuals registering without a team, we’ll take cyber security experience into account when forming balanced teams.

There is no requirement for coding experience to take part in this event.

To complete the registration form, you will need to provide:

• Your full name
• University or institution name
• Student ID
• Email address
• Details of your team members (if registering as a group)
• Details of your skills and experience for the purpose of forming teams (if registering as an individual or a partial team)
• A copy of your student transcript to ict-admin@griffith.edu.au to support your registration

Registration for the ANZ Cyber Crime Challenge closes on Friday, 2 October 2026. If you're registering as part of a team, each member should complete the form individually, accurately listing the other team members where prompted.

We’re happy to report that your registration fee will be sponsored by ANZ, which means no cost for students!

Due to the registration sponsorship, we wish to remind successful registrants of the importance of full attendance, not only as a representative of your University/College within Industry but also as a member of your Team.

Students should bring a laptop (including charger), as this will be their primary tool throughout the Challenge. Access to a limited number of desktops computers will be available, however due to login restrictions, only Griffith University and Griffith College students will be able to log in to these devices.

We also recommend bringing a notebook and pen for jotting down ideas, comfortable clothing, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. All other materials and resources will be provided on the day.

Yes, internet access will be available throughout the ANZ Cyber Crime Challenge:

• Griffith University and Griffith College students can connect using the standard Griffith Wi-Fi network, just as they would on any Griffith campus.
• University of Queensland students can access the Griffith University internet via Eduroam. Simply select the eduroam network on your device and log in using your home institution credentials. For more details on connecting via Eduroam at Griffith, visit: Griffith Eduroam Guide

The ANZ Cyber Crime Challenge will be held in Brisbane’s CBD. Location details for Day 1 and Day 2 will be shared with successful registrants.

Participants will be provided with morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea on Day 1. Teams who successfully progress to Day 2 will have access to light refreshments pre and post their presentation time slot. We’ll reach out closer to the event to confirm any dietary requirements you may have.

We do recommend bringing your own refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day, as water taps are available at the venue.

Yes, each student team will be supported by a dedicated ANZ staff member throughout the Hackathon. These mentors will provide guidance, share insights, and help teams navigate challenges as they work through their solutions. It's a great opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals and gain valuable experience in a collaborative environment.

Each member of the winning team will be invited to take part in an interview process for potential paid work placement opportunities with ANZ. The number of work placements offered will be subject to availability and candidate eligibility requirements. All placements will be based in Brisbane and are expected to take place during 2027.
