Ben Quilty After Afghanistan Exhibition Invitation

Archibald Prize–winner Ben Quilty is one of Australia’s most talented and respected artists. In 2011 Quilty travelled to Afghanistan as the Australian War Memorial’s official war artist.

This exhibition featured new work made from this experience and the close relationship he formed with his subjects.

ANZAC Morning Tea

Griffith University Art Gallery staff held a morning tea and gallery walk-through.

Ben Quilty Artist Talk

Australian War Artist and Archibald Prize Winner, Ben Quilty discussed his collection of portraits and his experiences in Afghanistan with Australian service men and women. Special guest speakers included Troopers Luke Korman and Daniel Spain.

Children’s Portraiture Workshop

Griffith University Art Gallery and the Australian War Memorial presented a Children’s Portraiture Workshop as part of Archibald Prize-winner Ben Quilty’s After Afghanistan. As a group, the children viewed Ben Quilty’s paintings of Australian servicemen and women, discussed the role of a War Artist and approached activities using the idea of capturing a story or emotion in an image.

The Ben Quilty education kit was designed for secondary and senior secondary students, intended to be used in conjunction with the exhibition Ben Quilty: After Afghanistan.
