Ms Claire Alexander

Claire Alexander is an experienced non-executive director, strategic finance leader, and Certified Practising Accountant with over 30 years of leadership across the public and private sectors. A Griffith University graduate, she proudly returns to support the university’s mission as a Member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Claire has served on boards and committees throughout Queensland, spanning health services, local councils, and government agencies. She is currently a Board Member for the Southwest Hospital and Health Service. Her recent appointments include serving as a Member of the Audit and Risk Committee for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for Cook Shire Council. Claire also provides consulting services to local governments across the state, guiding annual budgets and financial reporting from the Torres Strait to Southwest Queensland.

She is a Fellow of CPA Australia and holds an MBA from the University of New England. Her strengths lie in financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, mentoring, and risk management—with a focus on driving public value through transparent and accountable practices.

Her appointment to the Griffith University Audit and Risk Committee reflects a deep commitment to institutional integrity and to strengthening governance in higher education.
