Ryo is a post-graduate medical student, currently undertaking pre-clinical studies at the Gold Coast campus. His academic endeavours are complemented by his teaching within the School of Pharmacy and Medical Science and in the School of Medicine and Dentistry. He has also previously completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors – Foundation of University Governance Course.

Ryo has previously engaged in a variety of consulting works encompassing capstone course development, international student retention pedagogy, and partnerships with secondary education institutes. He has previously overseen the academic governance of the University through the Academic Committee. Ryo also has a keen interest in infrastructure development, currently serving on an advisory committee for the Health and Wellbeing Centre.

Beyond the academic landscape, Ryo is an accomplished musician with a robust background in the industry, marked by performances at both local and national levels. Currently, he holds the position of Music Director for a symphony orchestra and is a music educator and researcher at local secondary schools. He is passionate about community service, volunteering with Gold Coast Health in delivering music outreach programs within hospital settings.
