The Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research combines discovery research with translational research. We are pursuing drug therapies by identifying compounds that stimulate repair of the nervous system, and we are innovating cell transplantation therapies by generating three-dimensional cellular nerve bridges.

Spinal Injury
This project is a translational research program developing an olfactory cell transplantation therapy for chronic and acute spinal cord injury.
Neurodegeneration
This project is investigating how pathogens can invade the brain and spinal cord via nerves within the nose, and the growing association between pathogens and neurodegeneration, particularly Alzheimer’s disease.
Peripheral Nerve Repair
This project is creating new three-dimensional (3D) cell transplantation options (nerve bridges) to repair peripheral nerve injuries.

Our history
The Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research was established in 2016 at Griffith University. Based at both the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) and the Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ), our laboratories are equipped to allow cutting-edge research. Our aim is to develop therapies to treat spinal cord injury, neurodegeneration and peripheral nerve injury.
The Clem Jones Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Clem Jones Group. The trustees are dedicated to benefiting the community through ongoing commitments to the wishes and philosophies of the late Dr Clem Jones AO.
