Breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and sparking a lifelong passion for STEM
PlaySTEM is an innovative project dedicated to empowering girls from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and lower socio-economic families to discover and pursue exciting careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We're committed to breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and sparking a lifelong passion for STEM through engaging and effective strategies.
This project is proudly funded by the Strengthening Multicultural Queensland program. Join us as we work to create a more inclusive and diverse future for STEM!
About PlaySTEM
PlaySTEM is designed to make STEM accessible and exciting for young women. Our dynamic approach combines:
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®: We use the power of play to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset, helping girls build confidence and explore their potential.
Virtual Reality (VR) exploration: Immerse students in the captivating world of STEM through cutting-edge VR experiences, sparking their curiosity and showcasing the incredible possibilities within these fields.
Empowering parent workshops: We provide parents with essential information and resources to support their daughters' journey into STEM, ensuring they have the knowledge to guide and encourage them.
Inspiring role models: Students will connect with successful female STEM professionals and university ambassadors, gaining invaluable insights and seeing firsthand what they can achieve.
Comprehensive online resources: We're developing a user-friendly online hub with detailed information on study pathways, earning potential, employment trends, and diverse career options in STEM.
PlaySTEM believes that every girl deserves the opportunity to explore her talents and pursue her dreams. We're here to provide the tools and support to make that happen.
