Cyclone safety information
South East Queensland experienced heavy rainfall and flood warnings in early March 2025 due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The safety of our students, staff and community is our highest priority.
Griffith is putting measures in place for your safety, and we encourage everyone to prioritise your wellbeing and that of your loved ones as you recover from this weather event.

How the University will contact you
- We will email all staff and students at your Griffith address about campus impacts.
- We will send notices to the student portal, myGriffith.
- Regular updates will be provided on Griffith’s social media channels to keep the community informed in an emergency.

Griffith staff can access free support to mental health services through our employee assistance provider, Converge Interational.
If you are a staff member and continue to experience personal disruptions as a result of the extreme weather event, please ensure you let your supervisor or manager know so we can continue to support you appropriately.
Students can access additional learning, personal and financial assistance, on the Student Support webpage.
Griffith students can access free and confidential counselling and wellbeing services by booking telehealth or in-person appointments.

- location of the incident
- caller name and contact details
- nature of the incident (eg. burst water main, fire, injury)
- brief description of what has happened
- description of what you are doing now
- time the incident occurred.
