This award is given to Griffith University staff (professional and academic) to recognise innovative and effective sustainable practice at Griffith University

The Staff Sustainability Award program includes up to two awards of $5,000 each. Awards will be expended on approved sustainability activities such as research connected to the person’s or group’s activities, relevant travel or other relevant staff development opportunities. To be negotiated with the Person’s/Group’s Head of Element.

The awards, launched in 2014, will be made once every two years.

Griffith Sustainability Awards for Staff

Categories

The Staff Sustainability Award program covers the broad categories of Learning and Teaching, Research, Sustainable Practice and Community Engagement. Sustainability is defined by Griffith University’s Sustainability Policy, located in the University's Policy Library.

Eligibility

Any Griffith University full or part time staff member is eligible to apply for the Sustainability award.

Nomination process

Nominations for the Staff Sustainability Award are either professional or academic nomination. Staff should address the criteria, detail initiatives and provide supporting evidence where possible, using the online nomination form. Applications should focus on activities carried out within the preceding twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) month period and provide a maximum of 500 words addressing each criterion.

Judging criteria

  • What innovative approaches have you or your group (administrative and/or academic) taken to advance Griffith’s Sustainability commitment?
  • How effective has this been and how have you assessed this?
  • How have you or your group raised sustainability awareness and engaged the University community, visitors and partners?

Selection process

The selection panel is chaired by the Chair, Sustainability Sub Committee. Panel members include two members of the Sustainability Sub Committee, and may include an external member. Administration: Sustainability Project Officer, Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Engagement).

All decisions of the judging panel are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
