Study mechanical engineering at Griffith

Our mechanical engineering program is built on a strong foundation of theory, reinforced by practical experience and innovation. You will be involved in the development and use of new materials and technologies, as well as design and analysis using advanced software and computer systems.

You will be learning from our internationally recognised teaching team who maintain strong industry links ensuring you receive a foundation knowledge combined with practical experiences and problem solving skills that employers are looking for.

Our programs have a strong practical focus. Our industry placements provide you with the opportunity to develop work-ready skills and our teaching focuses on learning by doing. Our engineering degrees come under the Washington Accord, which means you can also get international accreditation for your studies.

Purpose-built facilities

Our newly opened Engineering, Technology and Aviation building is a space for innovation where students come together to enhance their learning potential. With the latest in hands-on technology, the building offers engineering, IT and aviation students the opportunity to learn in spaces designed to reflect the workplace.

Brodie Chan

Griffith engineering graduate

Currently working as an engineer with Brisbane consultancy GHD, Brodie Chan's engineering degree included access to major engineering companies, projects and programs in Australia and internationally. Brodie was also involved in the Griffith Honours College, which gave him the opportunity to volunteer in Vietnam, attend the APEC Youth Summit in Bali and co-ordinate local volunteering projects. Brodie also travelled to Kassel, Germany, as part of a four-week engineering and cultural training module. 'Studying at Griffith has broadened my perspective and given me the confidence, opportunities and the practical tools to go on and achieve my goals as a civil engineer,' he says.
