A restricted course may include limits on the number of students enrolled, level of performance such as GPA or a requirement to demonstrate an acceptable reason for undertaking the course.
To enrol in a restricted course, you must submit an online Change of course enrolment / Enrol in overload / Undertake a restricted course form. Any supporting documentation should be attached to your application.
Use this online form if you are enrolling in Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses. Different procedures are in place for Honours courses. Honours students must submit a letter (to a Student Centre) requesting approval to undertake a restricted course.
- You are responsible for ensuring that the course will count towards your degree requirements.
- Restricted courses will usually only count as electives. You cannot undertake more restricted courses than the total number of electives that are permitted within your degree requirements.
- You are only entitled to undertake a restricted course in the program in which you are enrolled. You cannot continue to undertake restricted courses in the hope of graduating from a different program.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your timetable does not overlap. In the event of clashes in your examination timetable, be sure to notify your nearest Student Centre as soon as the examination timetable is released.
