About Chaplaincy
Griffith Chaplains understand that:
- Everyone hits tough times. Whatever you are facing, Chaplains are an open and non-judgemental space to talk through what is on your mind and heart. No religion required.
- Everyone is spiritual. No one has it figured out. Chaplains are trained to help you explore the spiritual questions, hopes, doubts, and longings that you might have, regardless of your religious background.
- Everyone needs to belong. Chaplains provide opportunities to connect with a wide range of religious and non-religious groups on and off campus to help you build community and discover belonging.
Chaplains are trained to listen to what you have to say, and they'll be able to either help you out themselves, or know where to send you to get things sorted.
Is it about religion?
Chaplains are here for everyone, no religion required.
However, if you are looking for religious support chaplains can offer you spiritual direction, prayer and other rituals or point you to someone who is conversant with your religious tradition to help you in this.
Chaplaincy is a safe place to talk through any questions or doubts you might have about faith or to start a conversation around a negative religious experience you may have had.

Chaplaincy appointments are available on campus and online.
To contact a chaplain, you can make an appointment online or call (07) 3735 7299 (Nathan) or (07) 5552 8734 (Gold Coast). Tips on religious belief and practice while social distancing
While corporate religious gatherings have experienced restrictions due to the impacts of COVID-19, many religious events are now available online and in person. To find an online event, simply Google your usual place of worship or religious affiliation. Additionally, personal spiritual practices can be maintained as a source of strength and comfort at any time.
- Set aside time for personal reflection and prayer.
- Use candles, sacred art, holy books etc. as appropriate and helpful to focus the mind. Contact people from your religious community, or like-minded friends for conversation and encouragement.
- Reach out to contact your local religious leader to find out how your religious community is responding to the challenges of the moment and ask them for personal support if you feel you need it.
