Griffith has the largest Indigenous Australian student population of any Queensland university.

We recognise the unique place of First Peoples in Australian history and culture, and are committed to enabling their continuing contribution to the nation.

The GUMURRII Student Support Unit assists Indigenous Australian students with preparing for university, study support and more.

First Peoples

Griffith has a range of strategies and partnerships in place to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, within the University and the wider community.

My story: Ljudan Michaelis Thorpe

Ljudan is a proud Bidjara-Dhunghutti woman undertaking a Master of Screen Production. She is the first person in her family to go to uni and says it completely changed her life. She wants others from her community be able to achieve at uni too.

Racism. It stops with me

Griffith proudly supports the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Racism. It Stops With Me campaign, which encourages all Australians to take a stand against racism.
