Explore our range of training resources and workshops on a variety of topics to help you cope with and manage your moods and behaviours. We also offer selected programs for staff and students to train you to help others with their mental health issues and more.

Managing stress and exams

If you're stressed out by the pressures of study or exams, Managing Stress and Exams workshops can help! These workshops take place in a supportive, safe environment and cover the following:

  • overview of stress management and introduction to some evidence based stress management skills
  • focus: Study Week and during the exam. Specific exam-taking strategies for preparation/planning and performance.

Meditation, Mindfulness and Relaxation

The Counselling and Wellbeing team runs 45 minute Meditation, Mindfulness, and Relaxation sessions every Friday afternoon in the Nathan Multi-Faith Centre (N53) Reading and Reflection Room from 11.15am - 12pm.

The sessions are completely free and open to all students and staff.
Come on down and take some time out from your work and study!

PLEASE NOTE: These sessions will not be running on Friday the 31st of January and Friday the 14th of February 2020.

Mental Health First Aid course

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to someone with a mental health problem before they get professional help, or until the crisis resolves. This two-day course is offered to staff and students, and covers:

  • providing appropriate support to someone in the early stages of a mental health issue
  • recognising the signs and symptoms of mental health issues
  • knowing where to get help and how to refer.

Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person

We offer Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person courses, which can teach you how to give first aid to someone who is suicidal. These four-hour courses complement the Mental Health First Aid training are open to all Griffith students who'd like to attend.

Success and wellbeing workshops

Based on staff/school requests we can tailor workshops to meet student needs. Workshops can be run:

  • before, during or after lectures
  • during your orientation activities
  • as part of mentoring and leadership programs
  • before or during placement, field trip and internship activities.

Topics include:

  • stress management and self-care
  • building resilience
  • managing exam anxiety
  • mental health and wellbeing
  • mindfulness.
