Becoming president of the International Association of Language and Social Psychology in 2018. This association aims to foster the growth and development of scholarly research in the area of language and social psychology internationally, and values research that makes a difference. Being President has provided me with the opportunity to lead new initiatives in the association to foster research collaborations both with our members and other associations internationally. We are also working to communicate more how our research can assist with difficult societal problems such as conflict between cultures, improving health service delivery, keeping languages alive, improving policing, and the voice and wellbeing of marignalised groups.
