In line with the increasing demand for mobile accessible services and in response to growing cyber security requirements, Griffith University is implementing Microsoft (MS) Intune for Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM). MS Intune is a cloud-based Microsoft Service providing governance capability over corporate issued and personally owned devices allowing them to securely connect to Griffith University IT services. It provides secure device and application management and application ease of use.
MDM (Mobile Device Management)
MDM stands for "Mobile Device Management." At Griffith MDM comes in the form of software that we use to apply settings, control, encrypt, and enforce policies on mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. Griffith recommends corporately owned devices be enrolled in MDM.
MAM (Mobile Application Management)
Mobile Application Management is like MDM, except it's only applied to specific applications on a device instead of the entire device. The general idea is that using MAM, we can apply settings, control and secure specific corporate applications, while everything else on the phone is left up to the user.
