This was the 3rd workshop in the GSBRC series "Connecting with...", which targets greater engagement with government agencies, not for profit organisations, and other organisations interested in collaborating with Griffith University-based researchers to achieve better policy and practice outcomes, and in an effort to better understand the partners' needs and priorities.
The workshop provided many helpful hints to assist researchers in sourcing information on the ABS web sites, one being the National Information Referral Service (NIRS), which has consultants who have been trained in the range of statistical data and information that is produced by the ABS. These consultant can provide limited free data and information over the phone for straightforward enquiries. More complex enquiries about ABS data can be found using the web site and / or other public libraries. In some instances, data may need to be compiled and is provided on a fee-for-service basis. Telephone contact details or alternatively a link for online enquiries may be accessed here. (PDF 6KB)
