The GSBRC ran two 'Multilevel Linear Models with SPSS workshops' in the month of May and June at the Mt Gravatt and Gold Coast campuses. Both workshops were led by Dr Todd Milford who is currently a Lecturer in Education at the Mt Gravatt campus.
Data is often found in nested or hierarchical structures with variables often clustered within other variables. The use of multilevel analyses to examine differences such as those with PISA has become quite widespread in the last few decades and many statistical software packages have been created to facilitate this (e.g. HLM).
The purpose of the workshop was to provide attendees with an introduction to Multilevel Linear Models with SPSS (originally, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The course offered some background and theory into Multilevel Linear Models and also used sample data to create a series of models. The session also offered some support towards being able to create and interpret Multilevel Linear Models using SPSS
