Candidates must meet all of these:
- Be a registered player with Sunnybank Senior Rugby Club;
- Be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder; and
- Be either eligible for admission to any of Griffith University's Undergraduate or Postgraduate programs, or be currently enrolled in any Griffith University Undergraduate or Postgraduate program.
If all are not addressed application will be deemed incomplete.
- Secondary Education History and Program: for commencing students to demonstrate past academic merit.
- Program: for continuing students to demonstrate past academic merit.
- Sporting Participation: demonstrate high achievement in chosen sport within the Sunnybank Senior Rugby Club
- Referee Details: a referee report from your coach; and
for Commencing students- it is recommended that you also include an academic referee (school teacher or principal)
Terms and Conditions
If successful, you must:
- Continue to meet the eligibility requirements
- Maintain good academic standing (GPA 3.5)
- Remain enrolled at Griffith University
The Sunnybank Senior Rugby Club Scholarships are awarded in two (2) tiers dependent on the applicants sporting level.
Tier 1 is valued at a maimum of $5,000, payable in instalments. Payments of $2,500 are payable for each full-time trimester to the maximum value of the scholarship. (Pro-rata for part-time enrolment)
Tier 2 is valued at a maximum of $2,500, payable in instalments. Payments of $1,250 are payable for each full-time trimester to the maximum value of the scholarship. (Pro-rata for part-time enrolment)
Payments are made within six weeks of the Census Date subject to maintaining ongoing eligibility requirements.
The Sunnybank Senior Rugby Union Club is one of Australia's premier rugby clubs. The Club provides pathways for players and participants from U6 to the professional level, and has over 1000 active members. As the club is located near Griffith University's Nathan Campus, it shares a common geography with Griffith University's catchment. The Sunnybank Rugby Club , through the development of two different scholarship opportunities, wishes to support gifted rugby players to achieve in both their academic studies and the sport of rugby union.
Sunnybank Senior Rugby Club Annual Scholarship
The Sunnybank Rugby Club Annual Scholarships are aimed at elite rugby union players in the Sunnybank Senior Rugby Club, who have the potential to perform at a sound academic level at a tertiary institution, and gain a higher qualification without forfeiting their sporting opportunities. The Scholarship is available to both commencing and continuing students (continuing is defined as students currently enrolled at Griffith University).
The Sunnybank Rugby Club Annual Scholarships available are awarded in two(2) tiers dependent on the applicants sporting level.
Tier 1 is valued at $5,000, paid in 2 instalments of $2,500 for full-time enrolment. (Pro-rata for part time)
Tier 2 is valued at $2,500, paid in 2 instalments of $1,250, for full-time enrolment . (Pro-rata for part time)
The successful applicants will receive payment to a nominated bank account after census date each trimester.
