LIEF Expression of interest process

Expression of Interest (EOIs) for ARC LIEF grants must be submitted to the Office for Research by email researchgrants@griffith.edu.au by 12 December 2022.

EOIs are required for all 2024 ARC LIEF applications in which Griffith University is involved, whether as the lead (Administering) organisation or as a collaborating organisation.

Coordination of Queensland-led applications

The coordination of LIEF EOIs with Queensland universities aims to enhance the quality of applications by maximising the range of institutions participating in an application and institutional cash contributions by including appropriately qualified Chief Investigators from other Queensland universities. However, applications that involve universities outside of Queensland are still strongly encouraged and applications that do not attract interest from other Queensland universities will not be disadvantaged due to the Queensland coordination process.

The application process

1. Download and read ARC LIEF information from the ARC

You should download the following:

2. Complete the application form in RMS

Instructions, troubleshooting and tips on completing your application in RMS are available in the ARC’s instructions to applicants. Other resources to assist you are:

All research staff should update their personal details in RMS before beginning an application. This will ensure auto-population of relevant information in the application form.

3. Complete PDF section

The ARC LIEF application process requires many sections of the application form be completed in separate Word documents and then converted to PDF. Please ensure you have the software needed to undertake this task. Do not scan documents.

4. Complete the Certification proforma

Download the Certification proforma and obtain all signatures. Allow plenty of time to obtain the signatures of the contributing organisations. These have to be signed off by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) or equivalent person at your partner’s organisation, and these people are not always available at a moment’s notice. Once completed, please email scanned copy to the round coordinator in the Office for Research.

5. Submit proposal to the Office for Research

Once each of the sections denoted in the “Draft Summary Proposal” page have a green tick and show “Complete and valid”, click on the “Submit proposal to Research Office” button at the bottom of the screen. After local submission you will no longer have access to the proposal and will be required to contact the round coordinator in the Office for Research to make any further changes. Following an initial review of your application by the Office for Research, feedback will be provided and your application unsubmitted in RMS. You will then need to make the necessary changes and resubmit.

6. Complete the research grants application coversheet

For instructions on how to do this, see: https://www.griffith.edu.au/research/research-services/research-grants/apply-for-funding/research-grant-application-coversheet

7. Application submission

Electronic submission of the final applications to the ARC is the responsibility of the Office for Research. All applicants will be contacted to confirm their application is in its final format ready for submission.
