Policy Officer, Research Engagement
Heidi Russo's main responsibilities are supervision of the Research Publications Team, coordination of Research Institute and Centre performance reporting, research websites, and Griffith's submission for the Higher Education Research Data Collection; the Federal Government's research income and publications returns from Australian universities. Heidi is a member of the policy team in the Office for Research, which more broadly aims to enhance the research quality culture at Griffith by measuring and monitoring research performance, and developing strategies for creating environments conducive to research excellence.
Heidi has a diverse background, with a PhD and Master of Arts in sociology (intercultural studies) from QUT and Bachelor of Arts and Honours degrees in humanities (film and media) from Griffith University.
Heidi's work and research experience spans over 20 years across government, community and university sectors and she brings to Griffith her expertise in strategic planning and policy.
Prior to joining Griffith University, Heidi spent 10 years in local and state government in a variety of roles and established programs in corporate planning and performance management, business and operational planning, community relations, community engagement and strategic community planning. In this capacity she was project manager for the Logan 2026 City Directions project.
