Understanding and communicating climate change
21 August 2014, Presented by the EcoCentre, Nathan campus
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges we face this century, with scientific evidence indicating widespread and significant impacts to humans, species and our environment. In his presentation - "An update on scientific understanding of current and future climate change and consequences for humans and nature?” - Professor Brendan Mackey will provide a summary of the main findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 5th Assessment Report. John Cook will follow with his presentation - “Addressing the dual challenges of climate communication and misinformation” - exploring the psychology of climate change and misinformation, and how scientists can both communicate compelling science and neutralise the influence of misinformation.
