A public seminar with our special guest

On 8 June 2018 the Griffith Climate Change Response Program was proud to present a public seminar at the South Bank campus, from our special guest, the Hon Prof Rachmat Witoelar: Long-term vision on Sustainable Development Goals and climate actions. Prof Rachmat Witoelar provided an update on climate change negotiations and pathways for countries to achieve Paris Agreement goals in 2050. He also reviewed Indonesia’s efforts and readiness towards that path.

The Hon Prof Rachmat Witoelar

The Hon Prof Rachmat Witoelar is the Indonesian President’s Special Envoy for Climate Change. He held positions as the Indonesian Minister of Environment (2004 – 2009), and the Executive Chair of the Indonesian National Council on Climate Change (2010 – 2014).

His work in the area of environment and climate change issues has led him to head the Indonesian delegation to the Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change since COP11 in Montreal in 2005.

The evening was uplifting with a good mix of upcoming sustainability entrepreneurs, Indonesian students and State and local government representatives.
