Griffith University has secured funding under the Government Partnerships for Development (GPFD) program (an Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade initiative) to support the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) in implementing a regional approach to climate change data and information management throughout the Pacific. GPFD supports partnerships between Australian public sector organisations and developing country public sector organisations that promote sustained economic growth and poverty reduction by improving the effectiveness of governments.
Ensuring that the climate change data and information developed throughout the Pacific Region is effectively managed, discoverable, accessible and reusable will support both regional bodies and national governments to undertake more effective climate change adaptation and resilience planning.
The Pacific iCLIM project commenced in March 2014 and will be delivered over the next two and a half years.
