Aloysious Ssemaganda

I grew up just a stone’s throw from the Uganda Virus Research Institute, so I knew a career in research was an option.

In Africa, one child dies from malaria every two minutes. Each of Aloysious’ three children – now aged 11, 9 and 5 – have had malaria.

If we could come up with a vaccine at Griffith University and roll it out to people, this would the greatest achievement of my career.

PhD Candidate, Griffith Institute for Glycomics

Eloise Stephenson

As my project is multidisciplinary, I have been fortunate at Griffith University to have supervisors from different sectors. This has allowed me to have a specialised supervisor for all of my lab specific work, and then a specialised supervisor for all of my field work providing me with the best guidance and support I could have in these different areas.

PhD Candidate, Griffith School of Environment
