QCRC supports a complete suite of masters and doctoral level research degrees
In keeping with the leading role that QCRC plays in artistic research in the national and international spheres, the Master of Music Research and the Doctor or Musical Arts are specifically practice focused, with the expectation that the candidate’s creative work will be at the center of the project and constitute an important part of the final submission. The Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy comprise of a written thesis submission and allow candidates to work alongside expert researchers in their chosen field of research. Candidates are assigned supervisory teams who oversee all aspects of the research.
Doctor of Philosophy
The Doctor of Philosophy is suited to research projects which will result in a written thesis. The degree is awarded on the basis of an 80 – 100,000 word thesis that makes an original, significant and extensive contribution to knowledge and understanding in the relevant field of study, as judged by independent experts applying accepted contemporary international standards. This program is suited to topics in music education or pedagogy, musicology, and historical, ethnomusicological and socio-cultural investigations into music cultures around the world.
