15 April 2019 - Introducing three new dashboards - Student Experience Survey, Graduate Outcomes Survey and Student Completions

The first quarter of 2019 has been a busy time for Analytics, Planning and Data.

We have been working tirelessly to develop new dashboards which provide interactive, easy-to-use student and graduate information.

We are happy to introduce:

Student Experience Survey (SES) dashboard and Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) dashboard

These dashboards provide both overview and detailed information on Griffith's performance in the SES and GOS.

These surveys are national surveys conducted by the Social Research Centre on behalf of the Australian Department of Education and Training.

The SES collects responses from current higher education students, while the GOS measures graduate outcomes approximately four months after completing their studies.

Both surveys are used as targets for Griffith's Strategic Plan 2018 - 2019.

For a quick review on how the SES dashboard works, watch our short video - How to use the Student Experience Survey dashboard

Student Completions dashboard

This dashboard provides information about students awarded a degree from Griffith over the past 10 years and was created to address a gap in data previously available to the University community.

7 January 2019 - New Year, New Data, New Name for the Student Profile for Program dashboard

The APD team are happy to announce enhancements to the Student Profile for Program dashboard, giving you access to even more student profile information.

With the addition of a Career level filter, you can now access Program level data for University, Group, School, and Element directly on the dashboard.

This new level of data means we have renamed the dashboard to Student Profile dashboard.

The following four legacy reports have been incorporated into the Student Profile dashboard, and will soon be retired:

  • Student profile for university and campus dashboard;
  • Student profile for university and group dashboard;
  • Student profile for program; and,
  • Student profile for university/group/school.

Once these legacy PSP reports are disabled, you will no long have access to them through bookmarks or saved views.

BACKGROUND

In 2016, an opportunity was identified to improve the accessibility of data and reporting. Although Business Intelligence (BI) reporting is available under the Planning and Statistics Portal, many functional areas of the university were operating in silos to inform decision making. A review of BI reporting tools was conducted and in 2017, it was agreed to implement Tableau as a fit for purpose, enterprise wide data visualisation tool.

The introduction of Tableau will progress the maturity of access to, and use of, information to support a data driven culture at Griffith.

BENEFITS

The new portal will allow you to interact with data in ways you never have before! You will be able to access the most recent data quickly and easily, discover insights using drag and drop functionality on our eye catching dashboards and more.
