Griffith Data Trust

The Lab has been purpose-built to accommodate large, highly sensitive datasets. These datasets are safeguarded by a range of industry-standard security protocols and remain the property of the data providers.

People eligible for the purposes of teaching and research include:

• Researchers and academics with a Griffith s-number, including visiting scholars, researchers external to Griffith (with GDT Committee approval), and adjunct staff.
• Only approved persons are allowed to access the facility unsupervised after Facility Induction (red and yellow card holders).

If you are interested in developing a research project in GDT, you must complete an application and provide a brief project description for consideration by the GDT Committee. Access protocols are determined on a dataset-by-dataset basis and depend on existing agreements between the Griffith University and data providers. Please note that all data is physically stored onsite within the Lab.

Researchers can access a wide range of high-quality, sensitive datasets. Under the DATA Scheme, researchers can request access to Australian government data, which includes datasets on weather patterns, personal and business data, freight and traffic movements, and many more.

Applications must be submitted at least 12 working days before scheduled Committee meeting dates. Please allow up to 10 working days following the meeting for the initial review outcome. These timelines may be extended depending on workload demands.
