Casual parking on campus

Casual visitors can purchase a daily or short stay (two-hour) parking permit which is valid in the parking zones indicated in the below table.

Parking must be paid for any time your vehicle is on campus during regulated hours. Payment can be made via the PayStay App or by EFTPOS card at the Pay-by-Plate parking machines, please see instructions below. The eight-digit PayStay App zone codes to use are located on campus parking maps; eg. 40000XX.

There are no casual parking facilities at Griffith South Bank campus, street parking is available in accordance with local parking regulations.

Nathan, Mt Gravatt and Logan campuses

Casual daily parking zones (yellow) and casual short stay parking with a 2-hour maximum limit (light green) are available for purchase.

Gold Coast campus

Casual all-day parking (dark green) is available across the University bridge, enter via Griffith Way. Casual parking zones (blue) on the main campus are available from 4 pm to 11.30 pm daily, casual short stay parking with a 2-hour maximum limit (light green) are also available for purchase on the main campus.

Daily (Gold Coast)

Pay by the hour ($2 per hour max $6 per day) Available for all-day casual parking. Purchase from Pay-by-plate machines located on campus or use the PayStay app.

Short stay (2 hour max)

$2 per hour (max 2 hours) Available for 2-hour casual parking only. Purchase from Pay-by-plate machines located on campus or use the PayStay app.

PayStay App

PayStay is a smartphone app that allows you to purchase a daily or short-term permit without having to use Pay-by-Plate parking machines. PayStay zone codes can be located on the parking maps, listed above.

By using PayStay, you only pay for the time you use the car park.

  1. Download the PayStay mobile app from your mobile device's App store; available on Android and Apple.
  2. Register at PayStay or via phone 1300 322 111.
  3. Add/select the vehicle registration
  4. Enter the PayStay zone code, or differential code in zone field (Gold Coast only), and select "next"
  5. Review all details on the "Create Ticket" screen
  6. If these are correct then press START to begin the parking session and press STOP when you leave.

We encourage you to register for reminders of approaching time limits.

Pay-by-plate parking machines

Pay-by-plate parking machines are a ticketless system with no need to return to your car to affix a paper ticket. Machines can be located on the parking maps, listed above. Note, these machines accept EFTPOS payment only.

  1. Enter the registration of your vehicle
  2. Confirm the registration entered is correct and select “OK”
  3. Use left/right arrows to choose your length of stay, press “OK” and either insert your card into the card reader slot, or tap-and-go.
  4. Your payment has been successfully registered when you reach the "E-Receipt" screen
  5. If required, generate an E-Receipt number. Retrieve your E-Receipt at my-receipt.com.

Please take note of regulated parking time limits, e.g. you must not park for longer than two hours in a 2P metered parking zone.
