Casual parking

Casual visitors can purchase a park in colour zones yellow (all campuses) and blue (Gold Coast). Please see the zone map relevant to your campus below. Parking must be paid for any time your vehicle is on campus. Casual visitors to Griffith can pay for parking using the PayStay app or by using the Pay-by-plate permit machines on campus.

PayStay

PayStay is a smart phone app that allows you to park on campus without having to buy a parking ticket from a meter on campus.

By using PayStay, you only pay for the time you use the carpark.

  1. Download the PayStay mobile app from your mobile device's App Store, register at PayStay or phone 1300 322 111.
  2. Enter your zone number then press START to begin the parking session and press STOP when you leave.
  3. Sign up to receive reminders of approaching time limits

Pay-by-plate permit machines

Pay-by-plate parking machines are a ticketless system with no need to return to you car to affix a paper ticket.

  1. Enter the registration of your vehicle
  2. Confirm the registration entered is correct
  3. Select your payment method using left/right arrows
  4. For cash payment, insert coins to cover your required length of stay
  5. For card payment, use left/right arrows to choose your length of stay, press OK and either insert your card into the card reader slot, or tap and go.
Please take note of regulated parking time limits, e.g. you must not park for longer than two hours in a 2P metered parking zone.

Virtual permits

Staff and students who regularly park on campus can purchase a virtual permit. A limited number of virtual permits are available.

Note: Purchase of a permit does not guarantee a carpark space will always be available. South Bank campus does not have parking areas for staff and students.

Permits

Griffith University staff and students can only apply for parking permits through the Griffith portal.

  1. Read request form and click "Continue".
  2. Read Terms and Conditions then click "I agree".
  3. Make sure your details and address are correct and click on campus at bottom of page and continue.
  4. Click on permit required in the "Available" column. If the box is greyed out and cannot be selected, that permit is sold out and is no longer available.
  5. Click to continue to payment method. Payment can only be made online by credit card or salary deduction (eligible staff only).
  6. An email confirming your virtual permit will be sent shortly.
  7. You can print your confirmation form if required.
  8. On the "Confirmation" page select Click on the "Sign Off" tab to exit.

Manage your permit

Special Permits enable you to park in a special permit zone. Special permits are issued on a temporary basis where staff/students meet the following criteria:

  • Temporary Mobility - Your injury/illness prevents you from walking from a University carpark to your work/study area(s). A doctors certificate indicating this is the case ad duration must be supplied with the application
  • Pregnancy - A permit will be provided 3 months before and post the expected due date. A letter/certificate from your doctor indicating the due date must be submitted with your application.
