The Conservatorium Theatre is used for performances by Queensland Conservatorium students and partner organisations.
Four modes of presentation are used.
- Concert mode (sound shell forward, timber floor)
- Lyric mode (sound shell back, black floor)
- Reverse mode (sound shell back, seating on stage)
- Cinema mode (sound shell forward, with screen and sound system)
An eighty-tonne moveable sound shell works as a sound reflector for the concert mode and the acoustic curtains and small doors on the shell allow for acoustic variation. Adjustable panels on the auditorium walls further add to the venue's acoustic flexibility.
