The Women’s Wellness Research Program brings together a range of disciplines in chronic disease including in diabetes, breast cancer, menopause, and older and younger women’s health research
From clinical, academic research in nursing, psychology, medical oncology, pharmacy, exercise oncology, nutrition, community health, epidemiology, nanotechnology, and proteomics biology, the Women’s Wellness research group has a track record of success in multidisciplinary collaborations.

Partnerships and collaborations
Located at Griffith’s Menzies Health Institute Queensland, we partner with multidisciplinary teams from the University of Queensland, the Queensland University of Technology, Shanghai Ocean University and Kings College London. We enable collaboration between consumers and researchers from information psychology, technology, molecular biology, nursing, medicine, and allied health to advance innovative wellness research.
Dr Charlotte Seib
Dr Seib’s research focuses on understanding the potential impact of life stressors on chronic disease risk and health-related quality of life in women. Charrlotte is also the statistician for the Women’s Wellness after Cancer Program.
Dr Lauren Ball
Dr Ball is a primary health care researcher with clinical experience in nutrition and exercise physiology. She is an NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow at Griffith University (until 2019); an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at University of Queensland and Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Cambridge (UK).
Dr Jena Buchan
Dr Jena Buchan is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and academic in the School of Health Sciences and Social Work. Her research and clinical practice interest centres on the physical and psychosocial effects of exercise in the oncology setting.
Dr Nicola Burton
Nicola is a clinical health psychologist. Her research focus is adult physical activity including studies of participation, influences, preferences, links with wellbeing, and change. Other research includes lifestyle and wellbeing surveys, interventions and program evaluations; health coaching and sleep.
Associate Professor Kyra Hamilton
Kyra has psychology and nursing qualifications and over 25 years’ experience in the health field. Her research focus is in health behaviour motivation, self-regulation, and change. She is the Director of the Health and Psychology Innovations (HaPI) research laboratory.
Associate Professor Saras Henderson
Associate Professor Saras Henderson’s research focuses on innovative health service delivery models that are responsive to the health needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations with chronic diseases (diabetes type 2) and in promoting healthy lifestyle contexts for such communities.
Dr Amanda McGuire
After extensive industry experience in a range of clinical, management and teaching roles, Dr McGuire completed a PhD in 2015. Her research interest is health promotion and health behaviour change for the prevention of chronic disease.
Dr Lana Mitchell
Dr Lana Mitchell is a Senior lecturer in Nutrition & Dietetics at Griffith University and is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian. She completed her PhD in the area of improving the delivery of nutrition advice in general practice.
Professor Roianne West
Professor Dian Tjondronegoro
Professor Dian Tjondronegoro is Deputy Head (Research), Business Strategy and Innovation. His research, teaching and consulting on digital innovation focuses on multidisciplinary projects to investigate the application of intelligent systems (sensors and AI) for transforming the future of business, work, productivity, health and well being.
Professor Lauren Williams
Lauren Williams is Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at Griffith University and is a Fellow of the Dietitians Association of Australia. She is a scientist with a PhD in public health nutrition. Her research focus is the treatment and prevention of obesity.
Dr Joy Parkinson
Dr Parkinson is Deputy Director of Social Marketing @ Griffith. Joy co-creates transformative services with consumers and health professionals to develop services that consumers will actively engage in. Joy focuses on systems social marketing, service thinking and social value creation.
