Connect with the local community and make a difference
The Griffith Mates offer volunteering opportunities throughout Brisbane and Gold Coast communities, providing domestic and international students the chance to pay it forward and make a difference. Each session is facilitated by a local community organisation and the Griffith Mates to connect students with a local experience, event or environmental initiative.
Beach Care
We have teamed up with the Centre for Coastal Management to host regular Beach Care sessions. We rotate between Gold Coast beaches to participate in planting, weeding and clean beach action. Free transport is provided from the Gold Coast campus.
The next session will take place Friday 23 April, 2021.
Bush Care
We have teamed up with the Mount Gravatt Environment Group to carry out Bush Care sessions in the tranquil bushland in Toohey Forest. The sessions involve removing invasive vegetation and building pollinator links to support bees, birds and butterflies. Free transport is provided from Nathan campus.
The next session will take place Saturday 24 April, 2021
