Being a reviewer is an opportunity to share your knowledge, expertise and unique perspective

At Griffith, the calibration coordinator liaises with the Head of School, Deputy Head of School, Head of Department, Deputy Head of Department, Dean (Learning and Teaching) or Deputy Dean (Learning and Teaching) to offer nominations of academics that will make suitable reviewers for a particular course.

Your interest in being a reviewer is encouraged. Please register your interest if you would like to participate.

Considerations for reviewers

Who is nominated?

Academics considered for nomination hold senior academic titles. They represent the relevant discipline area with a demonstrated understanding of student assessment and academic standards. However, reviewer selection is not limited by these criteria particularly in new disciplines or specialised areas.

See the nomination guidelines below for more details.

Nomination guidelines

Academics considered for nomination are generally:

  • a senior university academic (level C or above) with relevant discipline expertise
  • have a demonstrated understanding of student assessment and university academic standards.

Note: Level B academics may also nominate provided they have substantial experience (5 years) and they mark the equivalent course at Griffith University.

Feedback from previous reviewers

A brief scan of the reviewers' reports indicates they have found the process a useful, positive experience and recommended other academics go through the exercise. Reviewers commented that the calibration process made them reflect on their own course. They also indicated that it was good to view/gauge what other universities are doing in their field.
