Prepare yourself for an English language proficiency test

This course is only available to current Griffith English Language Institute students who are at Direct Entry Program level 6 and planning to take an external English language test such as IELTS or ISLPR.

Overview

English Test Preparation provides an overview of the main English language proficiency tests and introduces you to a range of helpful test-taking strategies. The course introduces practice in the four skills areas of the tests including:

  • Reading: understanding information from academic and general texts
  • Writing: planning and writing essays under exam conditions
  • Listening: understanding information presented in academic and general settings
  • Speaking: participating in academic/general discussions and presenting information.

Course features

Hours per week

There are 20 hours of face-to-face learning in class plus an additional five hours of independent learning specially designed to add to the week’s classroom lessons.

Class sizes

Class sizes are small so you receive personal attention from your teachers and can progress quickly through your studies.

Timetable

Class times are 8.15 am – 12.45 pm or, when available, 1 pm – 5.30 pm. A class time will be selected for you, with special circumstances taken into account where possible.

Develop your English language skills to prepare for an external English language test such as IELTS, PTE Academic or ISLPR.

Independent learning

After class you can continue to practise your English using specially developed independent learning plans.
